Interview with Joe Rizzotto.

Joe Rizzotto interview promo

My friend Joe has recently started a new band 'Death Valley Superstars' with Gabe Iraheta (one of the original members of I Am Ghost), so I've done an interview with him to help promote his band over here in the UK. So here it is.

I notice on your bands Facebook that there are only 2 members of DVS... are you a 2 piece band or are there other members we just don't know about yet? (and if there are other members, can you tell us who they are and what everyone plays?)

Well basically Gabe and I are the only official members of DVS. Everyone else will just be live members and what not, and there names and who we are scouting are secret.

How did you guys meet and what made you want to start a band together?

We met back in the day years ago at an I AM GHOST show, since i was and still am a big fan of them i would go see them every time they would play in Hollywood or anywhere i could get to. Through the years we kept in touch and then realized, i could sing and he could play guitar, and we were both on the same " page " with everything.

How's the writing/recording going so far?

It's going good, we have lots of songs written and soon we will be recording them and putting this album together.

What kind of music should we expect from this new record?

It will be sick riffs with insane vocals and lyrics. so it will be a different sound then most stuff out there. it will defiantly stand out from the crowd, grab you by the neck and take a bite right out of you.

Have you got any plans on making a music video?

Yes we do! we have a few ideas in the mix, hopefully we will be able to make all of them. But i can't really say any of a concepts for them, but you have to consider we are both sick and twisted so they should be good videos.

Where did the name 'Death Valley Superstars' come from and what made you decide on using it as your band name?

We got are name from the new Murderdolls album, Women and Children Last, it is the title of a song on the album (Death Valley Superstars).
We had EVERYTHING, except a band name and i was listening to that song and it hit me " this song describes exactly who and what we are, and what we are fucking doing, let call the band DEATH VALLEY SUPERSTARS ".

You guys have said that you are after an ambulance for a photo shoot... sounds interesting. Why an ambulance?

Because we have to get used to riding in them if you know what i mean lol, We are going to be the Toxic Twins of 21st century. We have some cool artistic visions for photo shoots and music videos, most of them are very striking and eye catching. You will see soon enough what i mean lol.

Who have been your biggest musical influences while writing for DVS?

Definitely Alkaline Trio or any of Wednesday 13's music, like Murderdolls, Frankestein Drag Queens from Planet 13, his solo stuff, etc... Stone Sour, Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon, Rob Zombie, Motley Crue. stuff in that direction.

Do you plan on releasing a single any time soon, or how long will it be till we can hear a preview of what's to come on the new CD?

Yes we do plan on dropping a single relatively soon. It will be just a small taste of whats to come.

Are there any songs you would love to cover, and why?

I Love To Say Fuck by Murderdolls, well Fuck, i love to say fuck so that is reason enough lol and they are one of my favorite bands.
Sleep With One Eye Open by BMTH or With Friends Like These by Wednesday 13, because the lyrics to both of those sound like things that i have gone through with shitty so called " friends ".

Will you try to get on tour with a few bands to start you off when the CD is released, or will you be going straight out on to a DVS headliner tour?

Fuck, i guess it just really depends on the reaction to the album and if we are on a label that is willing to fund a tour or just the bit we need to get on a smaller tour with other bands i suppose.

Any plans to bring DVS to the UK?

Yes, I really want to go and play Download & Sonisphere. and all the tiny little clubs all over the place out there.
also go meet people, maybe some girls i love accents on girls ;) and hang out and have a good time.

Are there any bands you would love to go on tour with?

As far as band i would love to tour with would be bands that we look up too (murderdolls, slipknot, and rob zombie) and also bands that we sound nothing like (streetlight manifesto, william control, the dear and departed, and the gaslight anthem) to open up genres for fans, so they dont stay close minded and can listen to and hear other types of amazing music .

Where do you think DVS will be in a few years time?

Fuck, i think DVS will be on the road, far away from home, having a good time, maybe even in the UK, partying it up lol.

And finally, here's your chance to promote your band here in the UK, why should people buy your music?

People should buy are music to support us and frankly just to Spread the Hate
